The Field Listener — hear your chart as audio

Field Note #6 · July 2026 · ← All Field Notes

Astrology is visual. The chart is a map, a diagram, a picture. But what if you could hear your chart?

The Scalar Flower includes the Field Listener — a feature that converts your chart into sound. Each planet becomes a tone. Each aspect becomes a chord. The whole field becomes a symphony.

How it works

The Field Listener maps each planet to a musical note based on its position in the zodiac:

The relationships between planets — the aspects — create the harmonies and dissonances. A trine sounds smooth; a square sounds tense. The whole field plays together, creating a unique audio fingerprint of your chart.

REAL — The Field Listener uses standard audio synthesis (Web Audio API) to generate tones. The mapping from zodiac position to musical note follows a just-intonation scale tuned to A440. The mathematics is exact; the audio is synthesized in real time in your browser.

Why sound matters

Seeing your chart is one thing. Hearing it is another.

Sound bypasses the analytical mind. When you hear your chart, you're not interpreting — you're feeling. The tones wash over you, and something registers that's harder to access through visual diagrams alone.

Many people who struggle to "read" a chart find they can feel it when they hear it. The field has a sound, and that sound tells you something about the shape you're in.

What you'll hear

The Field Listener plays your chart in layers:

You can adjust the balance — emphasize the personal planets, or let the outer planets take the lead. You can hear it as a meditation, or as a background score while you look at your chart.

ARCH — The structural inference: the field is a wave-interference pattern. Sound is also a wave phenomenon. Mapping the field to audio preserves the structural relationships (aspects) as harmonic relationships (chords). The audio is not metaphor — it is the same mathematics rendered in a different medium.
INTERP — What does your chart sound like? Is it peaceful or turbulent? Bright or dark? Fast or slow? The Field Listener doesn't tell you what to hear — it gives you the raw material and lets your ears do the reading. Some people hear their chart as a storm; others as a lullaby. Both are valid.

Try it

The Field Listener is available to all Constellation members. Get your free chart to hear a sample, or join the Constellation to access the full feature.

Verify it yourself: The Field Listener synthesizes audio in real time using your browser's Web Audio API. Go to the Field Listener, enter your birth data, and hear your chart. The audio is generated from the same planetary positions that generate your chart — it's the same data, translated to sound.
